Tornado Safety
If a tornado warning is issued for the Fort Wayne area, campus security will relay the warning via the blue light public address system, email, phone, and text messages. In the case of a tornado warning, moving to a safe area is mandatory for those on campus. When seeking shelter:
- Go to an interior hallway or room on the lowest floor of the building or to a designated shelter area
- Stay away from windows to avoid flying debris
- Avoid auditoriums, gymnasiums, and other large rooms, if possible

Residence Halls
- Pierson Center – First-floor hallway
- Yergens-Rogers Hall –First-floor lobby and close both lobby doors (first-floor residents should remain in their rooms and move to their bathrooms)
- Evans-Kimmell/Oropeza Halls – First-floor hallway (first-floor residents should remain in their rooms and move to their bathrooms)
- Warrior Row A and B – First-floor bathroom
- Kalbfleisch – First-floor hallway (first-floor residents should remain in their rooms and move to their bathrooms)
- Summit Hall – First floor elevator hallway (if in lobby). Lower level emergency exit stairwells (if on dorm floors)
Other Buildings
- Abbott Center – First-floor restrooms
- Academic Center – Basement
- Andorfer Commons – Basement
- Campus Outdoors – move to nearest academic building
- Cunningham Business Center – First floor in hallway or first-floor stairwell
- Keene – First-floor restrooms, seminar room, HR Suite
- Schaefer Center – Basement of Andorfer (connecting building)
- Schaefer Gym – Locker rooms
- Uytengsu Center – First floor away from exterior walls or first-floor stairwell
- Warrior Fieldhouse – Lower level hallway
- Warrior Athletic Center – First floor restrooms or locker rooms
- Warrior Park Multipurpose Building – Main hallway, locker rooms, or team rooms
- Zollner Engineering Center – Lower level hallway
- Donald Ross Golf Course – Storage/ locker room
