Tornado Safety

If a tornado warning is issued for the Fort Wayne area, campus security will relay the warning via the blue light public address system, email, phone, and text messages. In the case of a tornado warning, moving to a safe area is mandatory for those on campus. When seeking shelter:

  • Go to an interior hallway or room on the lowest floor of the building or to a designated shelter area
  • Stay away from windows to avoid flying debris
  • Avoid auditoriums, gymnasiums, and other large rooms, if possible
